Carta a Donald Trump: Desastre total

Sr. Zanahoria:

El desastre que ha creado es tan múltiple que cuesta decidir por dónde empezar para analizarlo. Empecemos con el final: Desesperado de encontrar una salida del caos que usted mismo (con ayuda de su chero Netanyahu) ha provocado, se mudó de la amenaza obscena con la destrucción total de Irán a aceptar felizmente el plan de cese al fuego que los ayatolas le habían mandado. Al final de una intensa campaña militar de 39 días, con suerte se quedarán calladas las armas, pero todo será incomparablemente peor que antes.

Cuando digo todo, es el mundo entero:

·      El derecho internacional ha sido tratado con las patas. Por usted. Ya nadie se va a sentir obligado de respetarlo.

·      Encima de la represión brutal a manos de la dictadura teocrática, el pueblo de Irán sufrió bombardeos, apagones, hambre y muerte. A manos suyas.

·      Una transición democrática -el regime change (cambio de régimen) que usted proclamó querer conseguir con su ataque a Irán - está más lejos que antes.

·      Ustedes han destruido buena parte del aparato militar iraní, pero de ninguna manera el de represión. Queda intacto y actuará como cualquier bestia mal herida.

·      La dictadura, por su naturaleza fanática, pudo sobrevivir las bajas en su cúpula religiosa, militar y política sin moderarse. Por lo contrario, se radicalizó.

·      Con todos los incesantes y masivos bombardeos, el programa nuclear de Irán no quedó aniquilado. Luego de la experiencia vivida, Irán habrá llegado a la conclusión que sin armas nucleares no tendrá seguridad. A la misma conclusión llegarán otros países.

·      Como consecuencia directa de sus acciones erróneas, la economía mundial entró en una crisis mucho más allá de la crisis energética.

·      El estrecho de Ormuz, que antes de esta guerra estaba abierto para el comercio mundial y que por culpa suya se cerró, quedará bajo control militar iraní y además bajo un régimen de extorsión multimillonaria, del cual usted piensa hacerse socio. Ya tiene un cartel de petróleo con la dictadura venezolana, tendrá otro con la mafia teocrática. Felicidades.

·      En el camino, usted llevó a la OTAN todavía más cerca de su crisis final.

·      Puso en crisis también la alianza con los países del golfo. Difícilmente van a volver a confiar en que Estados Unidos los protegerá.

·      La credibilidad de Estados Unidos queda en el suelo. El mundo observó que su presidente provocó una guerra sin saber cómo dirigirla ni mucho menos cómo terminarla; también todos observamos que la democracia estadounidense no fue capaz de pararle el tren a un presidente ni siquiera cuando era claro que iba a chocar. A usted lo tendrían que haber removido del poder mucho antes de la crisis con Irán.

Usted va a reclamar victoria, pero el mundo sabe que fue derrotado. Se auto derrotó. Y nadie en el mundo entero y tampoco en su propio país queda con duda de quién es el responsable de todos estos desastres. Tarde o temprano todos le van a cobrar la cuenta, en la política interna como en la internacional. Y probablemente, ante una corte, en Washington o en La Haya...

Posdata: No lea lo siguiente, Donald. Ni lo entenderías. Originalmente comencé a escribir, bajo este mismo titular (Desastre total), otra carta diferente. Era sobre el desastre que han creado los partidos de oposición. Tenían que tomar decisiones sobre cómo enfrentar las elecciones de 2027. Tuvieron la posibilidad de desistir de candidaturas propias y abrir el camino a primarias ciudadanas no partidarias para definir candidaturas unitarias. Nuevamente, como en el 2024, fallaron a la sociedad. Ya cada partido convocó su primaria por separado. Algún día escribiré el obituario...

Letter to Donald Trump: Total Disaster

Mr. Carrot:

The disaster you have created is so multifaceted that it is hard to decide where to begin analyzing it. Let’s start with the end: Desperate to find a way out of the chaos that you yourself (with help from your buddy Netanyahu) have caused, you shifted from the obscene threat of total destruction of Iran to happily accepting the ceasefire plan that the ayatollahs had sent you. At the end of an intense 39-day military campaign, the weapons may finally fall silent, but everything will be incomparably worse than before.

When I say everything, I mean the entire world:

• International law has been trampled. By you. No one will feel obliged to respect it anymore.
• On top of brutal repression at the hands of the theocratic dictatorship, the people of Iran suffered bombings, blackouts, hunger, and death. At your hands.
• A democratic transition -the regime change you claimed you would achieve with your attack on Iran- is now further away than before.
• You have destroyed a good part of Iran’s military apparatus, but by no means its repressive machinery. That remains intact and will act like any wounded beast.
• The dictatorship, due to its fanatical nature, was able to survive losses in its religious, military, and political leadership without moderating. On the contrary, it has become more radicalized.
• Despite the constant and massive bombings, Iran’s nuclear program has not been annihilated. After this experience, Iran will likely conclude that without nuclear weapons it will not be secure. Other countries will reach the same conclusion.
• As a direct consequence of your misguided actions, the global economy has entered a crisis far beyond an energy crisis.
• The Strait of Hormuz, which before this war was open to global trade and was closed because of you, will remain under Iranian military control and under a regime of multimillion-dollar extortion, in which you even think of becoming a partner. You already have an oil cartel with the Venezuelan dictatorship; you’ll have another one with the theocratic mafia. Congratulations.
• Along the way, you have pushed NATO even closer to its final crisis.
• You have also put the alliance with the Gulf countries into crisis. They will hardly trust again that the United States will protect them.
• The credibility of the United States lies in the dust. The world saw that its president provoked a war without knowing how to lead it, much less how to end it. We also saw that American democracy was unable to stop a president even when it was clear he was heading for a crash. You should have been removed from power long before the crisis with Iran.

You´ll claim victory, but the world knows you were defeated. You defeated yourself. And no one in the entire world, nor in your own country, has any doubt about who is responsible for all these disasters. Sooner or later, you´ll be hold accountable, both in domestic and international politics. And probably, before a court, in Washington or in The Hague...

You´re done, Donald. Period.
